My Yoga Practice Essentials: Manduka & New Dawn Bath

The things I use in my own practice — from my yoga mat to a slow evening bath.

Yoga, for me, has never been only about what happens on the mat. It is about creating little moments of connection throughout the day – moving, breathing, slowing down and taking care of yourself. Over the years, I have learned that I actually don't need much for my yoga practice. A good mat, a little space and some time are usually enough. But there are a few things I genuinely love and that have become part of my own practice and daily rituals.

Manduka – yoga equipment that supports my practice

A yoga mat creates a space that is yours. Whether I'm practicing Vinyasa, Jivamukti Yoga or simply sitting down for meditation, I love having a mat that feels stable and comfortable underneath me. That's one of the reasons I love Manduka. Their yoga equipment is made with durability and long-term practice in mind, from yoga mats to blocks, bolsters and other accessories. I don't believe you need lots of yoga equipment to practice. But if you practice regularly, I think investing in a good yoga mat is worth it. It becomes something familiar that you return to again and again.

For me, a yoga mat is also part of the ritual. Rolling it out signals that it is time to step away from everything else for a while. Even when I am travelling, having my own mat creates a little feeling of home wherever I practice. And that is something I love about yoga in general: you don't need a perfect studio or a lot of space. Your practice can happen at home, on a rooftop, in a yoga shala overlooking the ocean or even outside in the Moroccan sunshine. New Dawn Bath – a ritual for slowing down

And then there is the other side of yoga: rest. After a long day, a strong yoga practice or simply when I feel like slowing down, I love taking a warm bath. No phone, no laptop, no plans – just a little time to be.

New Dawn Bath makes handmade bath soaks with Celtic Sea Salt, Epsom Salt, organic essential oils and Flower Remedies. I love the idea of turning something as simple as a bath into a little self-care ritual. For me, this is very much connected to yoga: learning to listen to your body and recognising that rest is just as important as movement. There is something about warm water, a quiet room and a little time for yourself that makes it easier to let go of the day. I don't see this as another wellness routine that needs to be done perfectly. It is simply a moment to pause.

One of their beautiful messages really stayed with me: The deeper your roots, the wider your branches.

I think this is such a beautiful reminder that the more grounded and connected we feel, the more space we have to open up to the world.

Move, breathe, rest.

I don't think we need complicated wellness routines. Sometimes yoga is a strong practice. Sometimes it is five quiet minutes of breathing. Sometimes it is walking by the ocean. And sometimes it is simply taking a warm bath and doing nothing. For me, these little rituals are all part of the same practice: coming back to myself.

Yoga has taught me that listening to the body is just as important as challenging it. There are days when I want to move, sweat and feel strong. And there are days when the most nourishing thing is to slow down. Maybe that is what I love most about yoga: it can change with you. A good yoga mat gives me a place to move. A warm bath gives me a place to rest. And somewhere between the two is where I find my balance.
